There’s another great night of Utribe music coming up at the UpFront Club in Maleny on Thursday 5th August. This will be the third of Utribe’s fundraising nights at the Club. All funds raised will help Utribe Festival out of its current debt crisis and bode well for an ongoing festival in Maleny.

Held on the first Thursday of every month, gigs to date have been real treasures and this one promises more of the same. Each gig tries to feature both local and “outside” artists, and the caliber of musicianship and original music has been fantastic. So far all artists have donated their gifts and we thank them for their generosity.

For the August gig, Brisbane musicians Peter Hunt on vocals, trumpet and guitar, and Conan Griffiths on vocals, guitar and percussion weave reggae, african and jazz ways in their original songs with a ‘local’ feel. Both members of the afro-reggae group kooii, they’ll play some stripped back versions of this group’s songs and others from the basket.

And as anyone who knows the local music scene will tell you we have a treasure in our midst Murray Wall.

Murray’s fingerstyle guitar repertoire will carry you across many different musical landscapes as he presents original songs and instrumental pieces dosed with rhythm and open-tuned harmony as well as covering artists from Steely Dan to Bruce Cockburn and Joni Mitchell.

The music starts at 7pm and we’re asking guests for a $12 donation. Meals served from 5.30pm, available for bunyas.
